Leg Fracture

This rabbit, Xena, suffered a serious leg fracture due to fragile bones (she had recently given birth to a stillborn litter two days after arriving at the rescue while malnourished and emaciated). Unfortunately, bracing or pinning the leg were not options and amputation was chosen as the best course of action, as more than one fracture and splintering had occurred. Xena's surgery went very well, but due to her ill health passed away from the stress soon after waking.
