New Moon Rabbit Rescue is Registered Charity # 82515 0329 RR0001.
We are a "no-kill" organization dedicated to providing care for rescued domestic rabbits.
Thank you for helping us continue to make a difference in so many rabbits lives.
New Moon Rabbit Rescue advocates many issues relating to rabbits. Rabbits are highly misunderstood, even today after so many years of being a house pet and many more of being domesticated. Rabbits are far more intelligent than most people imagine and love to interact with their human companions.
Please take the time to read the following pages and feel free to download any
informational brochures and flyers available.
Housing Your Rabbit Indoors
Pet rabbits should be kept indoors as family members. Particularly over the past 20
years, attitudes have changed towards what it means to have a pet rabbit and rabbit
owners have realized that having a house rabbit is far more beneficial for the rabbit
himself and for the family.
Rabbits and Children
Many people have the unfortunate misconception that rabbits are ideal pets for small
children. This could not be farther from the truth. They are a delicate animal that
should be handled with care and are not suitable pets for children to keep.
Rabbits for Easter
Each and every year, shelters and rescues everywhere see a significant increase in
rabbits being abandoned within a few months of the holiday, when the children have
tired of them and the rabbits have reached puberty and are marking territory, biting
and displaying other undesirable traits.
Releasing Your Rabbit
Please do not ever consider releasing your unwanted pet rabbit into the "wild." Your
pet rabbit is a domestic animal incapable of surviving on his or her own.
Spaying and Neutering
Yes, you can and should spay or neuter your pet rabbit!
